Modi’s twitter hacked again and a tweet promising Bitcoin sent out

December 14, 2021
The Twitter account of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefly hacked early Sunday morning local time. This isn’t the first time that Mr. Modi’s account was hacked.

The account was restored quickly. However, within a brief time a tweet went out saying that India had adopted bitcoin as legal tender and that the government had bought 500 bitcoin and would distribute them to all Indians. After restoring the account, a tweet was sent out about the false tweet.

The upcoming crypto bill in India has many on their toes and this was a feeble attempt by a pro-crypto hacker. Earlier this year, the hack of the prime minister’s account resulted in a fake tweet seeking donations to an account belonging to the hackers in the name of the PM relief fund.
