Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) bank’s CEO Helen Wong said in an interview with Bloomberg Television that the bank is thinking of creating a crypto exchange to address the customer needs in a “safe manner”.
Mr. Wong further said, “We are looking at it and seriously there is some work being done in the bank”.
The Singapore-based OCBC which is the second largest bank in Southeast Asia had $121 billion in assets under management, last year.
OCBC bank is mulling to set up a digital asset exchange after it’s competitor DBS launched a crypto exchange in December 2020, which received a license to offer crypto services from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in October.
