Ripple Labs Inc. has formed a shortlist of countries to move to should the blockchain payment services company leave the U.S. amid a lack of regulatory clarity there, its top executive said.
Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, the U.K. and the United Arab Emirates are potential destinations, Chief Executive Officer Brad Garlinghouse said in an interview with Bloomberg.
Ripple has long been considering leaving the United States due to what the firm has called lack of clear policies regarding blockchain and payment services.
Its executive chairman Chris Larsen has also called US regulations on blockchain “hostile” and said it might either leave for Singapore or the UK during an interview with the LA Blockchain summit earlier this month, according to Fortune magazine cited by Pymnts.com
