Diginex, the HK-based digital asset blockchain group, has officially joined Blockchain Alliance, a global coalition of companies and organizations with a common goal to make the blockchain ecosystem more secure, as well as to promote further development of the technology, according to a statement issued by the company.
Co-founded by the Chamber of Digital Commerce and Coin Center in 2015 and led by Steptoe & Johnson LLP, Blockchain Alliance provides a forum for engagement between industry and law enforcement and regulatory agencies and help combat criminal activity on the blockchain.
“This important global organization fosters communication between blockchain-oriented businesses and government agencies to enact vital safeguards that will minimize risk within the industry,” Diginex CEO Richard Byworth was quoted as saying in the statement.
Diginex becomes the first Asian member of the group that aims to play an important role in driving dialogue between law enforcement, regulators and industry and combat misuse of blockchain for unlawful purposes. It already has over 100 industry and government agencies as members in 19 countries.
Jason Weinstein, director of the Blockchain Alliance, said bringing Diginex into the fold of the “burgeoning community of blockchain experts, where their impressive track-record and industry insight will support our work in Asia in making the blockchain ecosystem more secure through education and dialogue.
