ShareRing launches first anonymous contact-tracing passport

LONDON – 4 AUG 2020 – ShareRing, an enterprise-ready platform using distributed ledger technology to create unified ecosystem applications for travel & e-commerce, has launched the first private contact-tracing passport that can be integrated with e-visa on arrival systems (eVOA), travel insurance companies, airlines, hotels and retail shops, in a bid to revive the global tourism industry.

“With the COVID-19 contact tracing passport, hotels and activity providers can now grant safe access for travellers to visit tourism hotspots for a much-needed boost to the international travel industry that accounts for nearly 3% of the global economy,” says ShareRing’s CEO, Tim Bos.

With ShareRing’s contact-tracing passport, travellers have the option to upload important identification documents including the eVOA, a passport, travel insurance, accommodation information and a negative COVID-19 test – a mandatory requirement for certain countries including Thailand, Indonesia and China.

Travellers’ “Proof of Health” is tied safely to a QR code which is scanned by airports, hotels or shops to reveal the status of their test, allowing for more freedom of movement and interaction with customers.

Contact-tracing apps have undergone harsh scrutiny this year after reports discovered many government apps lacked adequate security. The ShareRing contact-tracing passport offers a solution, safeguarding users privacy and protecting against fraud. It is the first self-sovereign identity storing model to overcome the major hurdle of securing data integrity and anonymity. Identity information is never stored on the blockchain and cannot be altered, preventing falsification and fraud.

ShareRing’s application offers a unique opportunity to create both a domestic and international standard for COVID-19 contact-tracing apps, bringing hope to the tourism industry and local economies across the globe.

The app is an essential move in ensuring businesses can keep their doors open while providing adequate safety protection for customers and staff. Airlines and insurers can see higher returns, and governments and retail can increase GDP while enhancing policy enforcement and civic safety.

Governments, corporations and local businesses can also integrate the contact-tracing passport on their own applications without using the ShareRing brand.

The ShareRing ecosystem has received strong support from 12 Peers Capital Markets, Alphabit, GDA Capital and Alpha Sigma Capital. ShareRing’s application has already been integrated with more than 2.6 million hotel and activity providers around the world.

ShareRing is the world’s first trusted sharing ecosystem designed to seamlessly integrate with businesses across a variety of industries from travel, insurance, rentals, logistics, charity, cryptocurrency and marketplaces. By leveraging our enterprise-ready, modular protocol on ShareLedger, we help reduce intermediaries to improve and connect services while significantly reducing costs.
